Rodney Bewes, one of the original
Likely Lads is about to undertake a
major UK tour of his one man version of Jerome K Jerome's Three Men In A Boat - but first stopping in Edinburgh to perform for one month in the Fringe.

In true Jeromean style, Bewes has adapted the original book down to a manageable 100 minute show, which he stars in, directs and produces himself.

Best remember for Three Men In A Boat, Jerome K Jerome wrote nearly forty books, many essays and several novels, both witty and serious. He was also a successful and admired playwright. As the founder and editor of two literary magazines, he was in the hub of lierary London and counted among his friends JM Barrie, Arthur Conan Doyle, HG Wells and Rudyard Kipling.

Jerome K Jerome died in 1927 and Three Men In A Boat written in 1889, was never out of print during his lifetime or at anytime since.

Bewes' adaptation is set in 1912, some 23 years after the book was written, with Jerome as narrator recalling his japes, scrapes and narrow escapes with George and Harris. A scenery boat and a dog called Montmorency accompany Rodney, who plays all three characters, on this bizarre but entertaining tour of Britain.
